Instruction Services Academic Assessments Upon entering Mercy Education's program, specific achievement goals will be discussed with the students and parents/guardians. Initial placement tests will be administered to the student by the tutor. The specific standardized achievement tests may include Woodcock-Johnson Reading Mastery Test, Gates-MacGinitie Silent Reading Test, Iowa Test of Basic Skills, Sat-9, STAR, and Key Math. Other placement tests may include SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words), Read Naturally, and Barnell-Loft (Multiple Skills/Specific Skills Series). These assessments will be given to students to determine what level of achievement they will be placed in during their sessions. There is no additional charge for assessment.
Dyslexia Instruction Program We provide a researched based individualized instruction program for the dyslexic student.
Private and Group Instructional Programs Our tutoring program offers one on one or small group instruction for the kindergartner to adult with highly trained professionals. 50 minute sessions are provided in all academic areas with NO CONTRACTS, and financial aid available.
School Resource Services A school service that provides instruction to those students who are identified, as having learning needs which require one-to-one or small group instruction in academic areas. The contracted instructor also acts as a resource to faculty and staff.
Summer School Entering: 1st–2nd Grade: An individualized instructional program designed to improve phonics, comprehension, fluency, listening skills, and math.
3rd–4th Grade: An individualized instructional program designed to improve fluency, comprehension, language skills, writing, and math.
5th–6th Grade: First two weeks is an individualized instructional program designed to improve comprehension, fluency, grammar and writing skills. Second two weeks is an individualized instructional program designed to improve math concepts, computation, and word problems.
Title I Service Provider Mercy Education is an approved Title I Service Provider for private schools in the San Juan Unified School District, Sacramento City Unified School District, Folsom-Cordova Unified School District, Elk Grove Unified School District, Washington Unified School District, Woodland Joint Unified School District, and Twin Rivers Unified School District.
Workshops Study Skills Workshop: STUDY SMART Learn strategies for: Organization, Time Management, Note-Taking, Study Methods, and Test Taking Tips
High School Placement Test Workshop: Students score higher when they understand the skills and strategies needed to take placement tests. Test anxiety will be reduced by knowing how to manage time and approach different types of questions. We offer a six hour workshop which will provide an overview of the test, question-answering tips, test-taking techniques, practice exercises, and a take-home practice test.
Writer's Workshops: THE FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY: These Saturday workshops are specifically designed for 5th, 6th and 7th grade students. If your child struggles with writing, these fun & educational workshops are sure to help!!!
Session 1 introduces the mechanics, structure and fundamental elements of essay writing. Maximum 12 students
Session 2 covers the writing process from thesis statement to a complete 5 paragraph essay. Prerequisite-Session 1 — Maximum 6 students
Assessment Services Educational Assessment – Child and Adult This comprehensive assessment identifies an individual’s preferred learning channel, strengths and weaknesses as well as possible learning differences (LD). Recommendations to enhance academic progress are provided.
Dyslexia Assessment A comprehensive assessment that assess underlying ability, thinking, organizing and planning, use of words and patterns; vocabulary; reading; writing; spelling; memory; sound skills. Providing a profile of unique weaknesses and strengths and includes recommendations to enhance academic progress.
Primary Assessment Available only at the combined request of parent and school principal, this is intended for children whose readiness skills are not clearly defined. Receptive-expressive language skills, gross/fine motor development, social and behavioral skills are rated.
GATE Assessment This assessment is aimed at students who not only meet, but exceed, the expectations of the regular education curriculum. The gifted often go unnoticed; however, their needs are just as different from the average student as those regarded as disabled. This assessment includes “teacher friendly” modifications as well as consultation to support implementation of these modifications.
Advocacy Advocacy is a highly individualized service which may include:
- Case management when children are served by several institutions or resource persons.
- Help for parents who seek access to public school services including special education, speech and language therapy and/or assessments.
- Interpretation of psychological reports and suggestions for appropriate modifications.
Counseling services All Services are provided by a licensed therapist or registered intern under supervision. We will work with you in a safe place to address your needs and help you move through the hurdles that are most difficult in life. Some of the issues that we can help you with include: Anxiety, Bereavement and Loss, Child and Adolescent Development, Couple and Pre-marital counseling, Depression, and Transitions. Services provided by a licensed therapist or registered intern under supervision.

Multicultural Services / Adult ESL Classes Adult ESL Classes Registration fee / classes on-going Multi-level classes for Adult ESL students. Students are grouped according to their level of English knowledge.
Accent Tutoring Fee for service / 8-week course Are you proficient in the English language and would you like to enhance your communication skills? This course will be tailored to your needs. Emphasis on pronunciation and the rhythm and flow of American English.
Occupational English Fee for service / 8-week course Learn English as a Second Language specifically designed for your profession or employment such as hospitality, janitorial, medical, sales, etc.
Occupational Spanish Fee for service / 8-week course Learn Spanish specifically designed for your profession and/or employment needs. Small groups or one on one classes are available. We have programs for all areas of service including teachers, medical professionals, dental professionals, firefighters, peace and police officers, security guards, sales associates, restaurant management, etc.
Citizenship Classes Fee for service Classes are offered in English only.
Adult Literacy Classes Fee for service For English speaking adults wanting to improve English reading and writing skills.
Specialized English Tutoring for ELL students Fee for service / small family groups or one on one tutoring. Preparation for assimilation into the USA culture and/or tutoring to furthering conversational skills and vocabulary. |
