Overview
The Sisters of Mercy have provided educational and health care services throughout Northern California for more than 150 years. The manner in which these services have been and are now provided has changed dramatically over those years, and Mercy Education Resource Center is one example of that change.

Mercy Education a non-profit service for children and adults was established in 1992 and represents the continuing commitment of the Sisters of Mercy to collaborate with others in the ministry of education. Mercy Education, while offering services to all, is especially dedicated to furthering the growth and well being of those who are emotionally distressed and educationally disadvantaged due to learning disabilities, familial or societal circumstances, or other factors which place them at risk in learning environments. Those who are economically deprived, especially families and children, are the primary concern of our mission. Mercy Education provides direct service to individuals, families and children with compassion and special concern for the poor. It is our goal to provide quality, affordable educational and behavioral health care services for everyone.

Mercy Education assists low-income, traditional and non-traditional families who often cannot obtain special education and counseling services, by providing direct services in educational assessment, counseling, tutoring, classroom instruction, and parenting training and support. Mercy Education is unique in its holistic approach, it is the only center of its kind in Northern California, and offers its services on a sliding scale to those in need, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or religion.

Mercy Education's educational services, provide comprehensive testing to identify educational and emotional needs of students to enable parents, teachers, doctors, and counselors to improve or redirect resources for a student's benefit. These tests provide an objective method and fundamental starting point for addressing the needs of each student.
